Join us for “Bras 4 A Cause” this October!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Bras 4 A Cause is a community-wide, month-long event held throughout October to support those locally who are fighting breast cancer while helping raise awareness about women’s health and the importance of early detection.
Want to get involved? Ask us about a Support Starter Kit and create your own breast cancer awareness display to help spread the message in your workplace, business, or community.
Early detection matters. Make breast health a priority by:
- Doing regular breast self-exams and becoming familiar with how your breasts normally look and feel.
- Scheduling clinical breast exams and mammograms as recommended.
- Talking with your health care provider about the screening schedule that’s right for you.
- Learning about steps you can take to help reduce your risk.
Together, we can raise awareness, show support, and make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.

Start a Display of Bras or Ribbons
Foster County Public Health has Support/Starter Kits. Call our office for details: (701) 652-3087.
Attend “Wear It Pink” Events
- 10/1 – CHS Volleyball Game
- 10/6 – MHS Volleyball Game in Cooperstown
- 10/8 – Ladies Night at Runnings
- 10/23 – National Wear It Pink Day!
Schedule your Mammogram
- Call CHI at 701-652-7151 to schedule your mammogram today.
- Don’t need one? Remind a loved one who might still need theirs!
- **Annual mammograms are recommended at the age of 40.
Donate to the Breast Cancer Assistance Fund at CHI
- Gas cards are provided to patients referred for breast ultrasound following their mammogram.
Host a “Wear It Pink Day” at Your Work
- Take a group photo, post to social media as able and tag Foster County Public Health and CHI St. Alexius Health Carrington.
- Care packages are given to patients diagnosed with breast cancer.
- Donations can be dropped off at CHI St. Alexius Health in Carrington (800 4th St N) or at Foster County Public Health (881 Main Street).
- Checks can be written to: CMC Foundation, memo line: Cancer Assistance.
Early Detection Is Your Best Protection!
- 1 in 17 North Dakota women may be eligible for free Breast & Cervical Cancer screenings through Women's Way – a Breast & Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program. Contact their office at (800) 449-6636, (701) 328-4563 or by email at womensway@nd.gov.
