Do You Need a Measles Vaccine?

The best protection against measles is knowing if you were vaccinated, when you were vaccinated, and whether you should get an MMR vaccine.

Birth / Vaccination Year Do You Need a Vaccine? Details
Born before 1957 No You were probably already exposed to measles, but could still receive the two-dose MMR series to ensure immunity.
Vaccinated between 1957–1989 Maybe Check with your doctor or local public health unit. Some vaccines used from 1963–1967 are considered ineffective and you will need another dose.
Vaccinated after 1989 No If you received two doses of MMR, your vaccines are considered effective protection against measles.

Two doses of the measles vaccine (MMR) are 97% effective at protecting people against measles and preventing complications.

Remember, it's completely safe to get vaccinated, even if you already have immunity, either from previous infection or vaccination.

Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB)

Blue-green algae can produce cyanotoxins which may cause serious health effects in people and animals. The NDDEQ will continue to monitor the waterbody until sample results indicate toxin levels are low.
